Comau’s robotic automation is accelerating the energy transition, as highlighted by the selection of its HyperFlex solution as a case study in the prestigious “World Robotics 2025” report.

The report analyzes the use of this cutting-edge technology at EDP’s solar park in Peñaflor, Spain, showcasing a concrete application of advanced robotics in the renewable energy sector.

In detail, the Comau HyperFlex solution is a patented “mobile factory,” designed as an “all-in-one” system for the installation of solar parks. Developed in collaboration with EDP, this flexible and reconfigurable solution uses a Racer-5-0.80 robot mounted on an autonomous guided vehicle (AGV). The system automatically assembles the “solar blade,” which can measure up to 48 m², directly in the photovoltaic field, allowing for up to a 25% acceleration in plant construction.

The HyperFlex solution stands out for several innovative features:

  • It uses a collaborative robot mounted on an autonomous guided vehicle (AGV) to assemble and install solar trackers directly on-site.
  • It is capable of automating up to 70% of activities, dramatically increasing efficiency, execution speed, and safety for operators.

This innovation is set against the backdrop of a rapidly growing market. The adoption of robotics in the construction of renewable energy plants is crucial for accelerating project timelines and for addressing the shortage of specialized labor.

Furthermore, the adoption of HyperFlex aligns perfectly with EDP’s ambitious goals and confirms Comau’s strategy of supporting its partners with high-performance solutions.
