Emerging Africa & Asia Infrastructure Fund and British International Investment Back Blueleaf Energy’s 850 MW Renewables Expansion in India

British International Investment (BII) has announced the partial syndication of its $75 million mezzanine debt investment in Blueleaf Energy with the Emerging Africa & Asia Infrastructure Fund (EAAIF). Under the agreement, EAAIF will be providing 50 per cent of the total debt financing, with BII continuing to provide the remaining $37.5 million. 

Furthermore, the funding will help Blueleaf Energy to develop 850 MW of new renewable energy capacity in India. The projects include utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage systems. Blueleaf’s renewable energy portfolio includes wind, solar, and energy storage projects, collectively expected to generate over 3.2 GWh of clean energy annually while avoiding more than 3.1 million tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

Earlier, in March 2026, Blueleaf Energy commissioned its 300 MWp Pachora utility-scale wind-solar hybrid project in Madhya Pradesh. Valued at around Rs 19 billion, the project consists of 35 wind turbines, a multi-site solar farm, and a dedicated pooling substation. The project spans over 40 sites.
