Coal India Commissions 200 MW Solar Plant

Coal India Limited has commissioned 200 MW of solar power capacity out of its 300 MW solar power project at Khavda, Gujarat. The commissioned capacity commenced commercial operations on August 8, 2026.

In July 2026, Coal India Limited signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited to develop renewable energy projects in Uttar Pradesh. Under the agreement, Coal India will hold a 51 per cent stake in the JV, while UPRVUNL will hold the remaining 49 per cent.

In July 2026, Coal India Limited secured 600 MW of grid-connected solar capacity at the Jalaun Solar Park in Uttar Pradesh from Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited, a joint venture of NHPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency. The project was awarded at a tariff of Rs 2.73 per kWh and is expected to be completed within 18 months from the signing of the power purchase agreement.
