Volks Energie has received a second contract from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to deploy an off-grid solar photovoltaic and lithium-ion battery storage project. The new project will support the Irugur-Devangonthi petroleum and petroleum products pipeline, which runs from Irugur in Tamil Nadu to Devangonthi in Karnataka. This follows an earlier order from BPCL for a similar solar-plus-storage system for pipeline segments across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The project will provide off-grid power backup to control stations and operational infrastructure along the pipeline. It is designed to ensure power availability for critical equipment, including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems, cathodic protection units, and other essential electrical components in remote locations. The solution aims to support uninterrupted functioning of monitoring and safety mechanisms across the pipeline network.
