Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) is preparing for an unprecedented power demand this summer, with an anticipated peak load of 2,351 MW.

To meet this surge, the utility has secured power arrangements totaling 2,500 MW, employing various strategies including long-term, medium-term, and short-term tie-ups. This forecasted peak load marks a notable increase from last year’s maximum demand of 2,182 MW within TPDDL’s service area. TPDDL aims to ensure precise power demand predictions using advanced load-forecasting techniques and cutting-edge weather forecasting tools, including artificial intelligence and machine learning . The company is bolstering reliability through strategies such as ‘bilateral agreements’, ‘reserve shutdown’, and ‘power exchange’ options, with plans to procure short-term power from exchanges in case of unforeseen contingencies. Moreover, the deployment of battery energy storage system in Rohini and Rani Bagh will play a critical role in sustaining uninterrupted power supply during peak demand periods.
