Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for its 800 MW renewable energy project in Andhra Pradesh. The project comprises 400 MW of wind capacity at Kanekallu in Ananthapuram and 400 MW of solar capacity at Pattikonda in Kurnool.

TPREL will develop the wind asset, while Suzlon will execute the engineering, procurement and construction work for the wind component at Ananthapuram. Furthermore, the remaining 400 MW will be developed by TPREL for NTPC. This includes a 200 MW FDRE project integrated with a 25 MW/50 MWh battery energy storage system. The remaining 200 MW of solar capacity is available for future allocation. Additionally, the project has secured 800 MW of inter-state transmission system connectivity at the Ananthapuram II and Kurnool-4 CTUIL substations for power evacuation.
