RWE has received a 495 MW Electricity Business Licence (EBL) from the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy of Korea for the Seohae offshore wind project, situated about 45 km off the coast of Taean County in Chungcheongnam Province, South Korea. This licence grants RWE development rights for offshore wind in Korea since the company opened an office in Seoul in 2021.

RWE Renewables Korea will collaborate closely with local communities and Taean County to facilitate the advancement of renewable energy in the area. This effort aims to create jobs and opportunities for local communities, industries, and suppliers. The subsequent phase for the Seohae project involves partnering with local suppliers to continue Engineering and Environmental Impact Assessment studies. Additionally, engagement with the local county and the Korea Electric Power Corporation is planned to strategize and finalise a grid connection agreement.
