Reliance Industries Limted will acquire a 100 per cent equity stake in Lakadia B Power Transmission from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) for Rs 80 million. The acquisition aims to establish an interstate transmission system (ISTS) to evacuate up to 3.5 GW of renewable energy from Lakadia, Gujarat. Lakadia B Power Transmission was established to implement the project and has yet to commence commercial operations. The tender for the project was floated in September 2024.

Reliance will undertake the design, engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning of the project. The company will establish, operate, and maintain the system on a build, own, operate, and transfer basis. Additional responsibilities include preparing a detailed project report, arranging financing, conducting project management and surveys, obtaining necessary clearances and permits, and managing land compensation for the project.

It will facilitate the integration of 2.5 GW of power beyond the initial 1 GW from multiple renewable energy projects within the Lakadia renewable energy zone.

Reliance will also implement a 22 kV line bay for various renewable energy developers, including Juniper Green Energy, TEQ Green Power, Ganeko Solar, TEQ Green Power XVII, Renew Solar (Shakti Eight), ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, Serentica Renewables India, RDS Solar Park, and Percentum Renewables. Additionally, the project will include the installation of a 1×330 MVAr 765 kV bus reactor with an associated bay and an augmentation of the Lakadia substation’s transformation capacity with a 1×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV ICT.
