The S-Hub consortium, comprising ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Private Limited and Shell Singapore Private Limited, have partnered with the Government of Singapore to develop a cross-border carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the country.

The S-Hub project plans to capture and securely store CO2 emissions from Singapore deep underground or under the seabed. Storage sites will be chosen following thorough analysis to ensure suitability. Operations for the project are scheduled to commence in 2030. In December 2023, the S-Hub consortium signed a memorandum of understanding with the Singapore Economic Development Board which outlines the guidelines to capture and permanently store around 2.5 million tonnes of CO2 annually in Singapore by 2030.
