Brookfield Asset Management and its affiliates (Brookfield) have announced the sale of a 1.6 GW portfolio of solar and wind assets in India to Gentari Renewables India (“Gentari”) in a two-phase transaction. With this, the first phase, involving the sale of 1 GW of operational assets, has been successfully completed.
Brookfield currently has an installed capacity of around 46 GW and a development pipeline of approximately 200 GW. Its assets, spanning North and South America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, encompass a diverse mix of hydroelectric, wind, utility-scale solar, and energy storage facilities. In India, Brookfield’s portfolio includes roughly 40 GW of wind and solar assets that are either operational, under construction, or in development.
In January 2025, Ørsted inked a partnership agreement with Brookfield and its listed affiliate Brookfield Renewables that will acquire a 12.45 per cent minority stake in four of Ørsted’s operational offshore wind farms. These wind warms include Hornsea 1, Hornsea 2, Walney Extension, and Burbo Bank Extension located in UK. These wind farms collectively have a capacity of approximately 3.5 GW.
