The increase in demand for solar power in the past few years has been phenomenal. The growing awareness regarding the need to shift to environmentally sustainable energy sources has been the leading factor behind this trend. Residential spaces, especially in metropolitan
cities across the globe, have started using solar panels for power generation, thereby reducing the overall electricity expenses. For all these years, the industrial sector was rather reluctant to shift to solar power due to some of its inherent disadvantages like low power output, inconsistent energy supply, and high initial expenses. However, in the recent past, certain technological advancements such as industrial solar generators have convinced the manufacturing and allied sectors to shift to solar power.

Why Semiconductor Jobs Are the Next Big Thing for Indian Engineers?

A typical industrial solar generator consists of solar panels, a solar battery, a charge controller, and an inverter. The solar panel is used for converting solar energy into electricity; the charge controller adjusts the voltage of the generated electricity so that it can be stored in the battery. Finally, the inverter converts the DC voltage into AC voltage which helps in the powering of different electrical appliances and machines. The first and foremost reason behind the growing adoption of solar power generators by different industries is that they provide free electricity. A major chunk of expenditure for any manufacturing company is related to power or electricity usage. Naturally, by cutting down this huge expenditure, the company can improve its profit margin drastically.

Furthermore, conventional generators, which run on gas or diesel, have a lot of moving parts and components which increases the risk of breakdown. Hence, these generators require regular repair and maintenance, thereby escalating their cost of operation. Solar power generators, on the other hand, are much more sturdy and robust compared to traditional ones, thus reducing the cost of maintenance and repair. Also, since the cost of oil or gas replacement is done away with, solar power generators bring down the cost of energy production despite high initial investments.

Recent advancements in industrial solar generators helping the growth of the industry

As per a report published by Allied Market Research, the industrial solar power generator industry is expected to surge ahead at a CAGR of 16.9% in the 2021-2030 period. This huge rise in the landscape is attributed to the innovations and advancements in solar power technology. The use of artificial intelligence for predictive maintenance and performance analytics is one such recent development in the sector. The use of AI-based tools helps bring down costs, reducing downtime, and improving the overall lifespan of the equipment. The advanced analytics used by these tools also aid in solar forecasting, thereby enhancing the overall output and efficiency of the generator.

Along with such advancements, the launch of high-tech solar power generators by leading companies has also helped in expanding the scope of the industry. For instance, in June 2023, Decarbon Venture, an Australian startup, announced the launch of a mobile solar generator with 7.2 kWh of storage and 6 kW power generation capacity. The company has claimed that it is the world’s first “swappable” solar generator, and comes in three variants viz., AirBase Quad, AirBase Power Module, and AirBase Duo. The product launch is expected to help the company establish its foothold in the industry in the coming period.

To sum it up, the industrial solar generator industry is expected to experience a major boost in the near future due to the growing shift toward renewable energy sources like solar power. The various advantages offered by these solar generators are predicted to increase their demand in the years to come. Finally, technological advancements and ingenious product launches are anticipated to augment the growth rate of the sector.

Short Description: Industrial solar generators have become quite popular in recent times owing to their role in reducing the carbon footprint of different end-use industries and, thus, promoting environmental sustainability. With the emergence of advanced technologies like AI and the launch of innovative products by major companies, the industrial solar power landscape is predicted to rise significantly in the coming period.
