Meine Electric has announced that its iron-air battery technology will undergo a utility-scale pilot evaluation at NTPC Limited’s Simhadri thermal power station in Andhra Pradesh. The pilot will be implemented by Atal Incubation Centre – Anna University, with Meine Electric serving as the technology partner.
Furthermore, the pilot will assess the battery system’s technical performance, operational reliability and operating characteristics under utility conditions. Moreover, it is expected to generate operational data and technical insights that can support the further development and potential larger-scale deployment of the long-duration energy storage technology.
Additionally the company’s proprietary fast charge long discharge technology has already undergone independent validation by Customised Energy Solutions, including a six-hour charging and 18-hour discharging cycle. The assessments covered electrochemical performance, capacity retention, as well as the operational stability of the system.
