Jupiter Wagons Limited, through e-reverse auctions conducted under tariff-based competitive bidding, has secured two standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects with a combined capacity of 100 MW/400 MWh from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL). The projects will be located in Jeerat and Kharagpur, West Bengal.
Furthermore, the projects will be executed and operated by JEM Energy, a subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons. The scope includes the supply and commissioning of BESS projects worth approximately Rs 4 billion. The projects will be operated under a 15-year build-own-operate model with WBSEDCL.
Following these wins, JEM Energy’s BESS order book has increased to around 500 MWh, including commercial & industrial projects, with a value of more than Rs 5 billion. The company is targeting a BESS order book of approximately Rs 10 billion by financial year 2026-27.
