Korra Energi, an Egyptian energy infrastructure company, has secured credit facilities exceeding EGP2 billion to support the implementation of the 500 kV Suez of Gulf transmission lines project for Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), the country’s transmission operator.
The project involves the construction of about 350 km of 500 kV ultra-high-voltage transmission lines linking wind power generation facilities in the Gulf of Suez to the Hawamdiya substation in Giza Governorate. The scheme is one of Egypt’s largest electricity transmission infrastructure projects, and is expected to enable the national grid to absorb more than 2 GW of renewable energy, supporting Egypt’s strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in its generation mix.
