Torrent Power Limited has secured a letter of award (LoA) from Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) to supply power from a 1,600 MW greenfield coal-based thermal power project in Madhya Pradesh.
The project will be developed on a design, build, finance, own and operate model and will supply the entire capacity to MPPMCL under a 25-year power purchase agreement at a tariff of Rs 5.82 per unit. The plant will comprise of two units of 800 MW each, based on ultra-supercritical technology, and is expected to be commissioned within 72 months of signing the agreement. The project entails an investment of about Rs 220 billion.
