Tata Power Commences Solar Cell and Module Production in Tamil Nadu

Tata Power Solar Systems Limited (TPSSL) has begun commercial production of 2 GW solar cell line in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. TPSSL is a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL). A further 2 GW of production capacity will be added within the next 4 to 6 weeks and peak production of 4.3 GW will be reached in the next few months.

TOPCon and Mono Perc technology are being manufactured at the plant, providing high-efficiency production of solar cells and modules. An investment of Rs 43 billion was undertaken for this plant and module production capacity was commissioned in 2023.

In August 2024, TPSSL announced a partnership with ICICI Bank to provide loans. Further in July 2024, TPSSL and Bank of India entered into a partnership to provide easier loans and financing for rooftop solar panel installation and electric vehicle charging station.
