State Grid Anhui Electric Power Company, a subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) has commissioned the Anhui section of the ±800 kV Shaanxi–Anhui ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission line.
The section was connected on November 18, 2025, nearly three months ahead of schedule. The 8 GW UHVDC project, spanning 1,055 km from the Baotashan converter station in Shaanxi to the Hezhou station in Anhui, passes through Henan province. It involves a total investment of CNY 20.5 billion. The line will deliver over 36 TWh of electricity annually to Anhui, integrating 11 GW of new renewable energy capacity and 4 GW of dispatchable coal-based power in Shaanxi. It also connects to the 1.2 GW Yuexi pumped hydro station near its terminus.
