SECI Announces 500 MW Offshore Wind Tender

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a tender for 500 MW offshore wind projects (tranche-I) in Gujarat. The project will be connected to the inter state transmission system and be developed on a build-own-operate basis. It will be developed in a 202 sq. km area in the Gulf of Khambhat, off the coast of Gujarat. The last date of bid submission is December 10, 2024.

According to the tender guidelines, the bidders have to submit a document fee of Rs 50,000 and a bid processing fee of Rs 2 million. Both of these amounts are non-refundable. Bidders should submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 3.7 million.

The developer will have to establish offshore wind projects connected to an ISTS, set up the transmission network up to the interconnection/delivery point, identifying land for onshore manufacturing, storage, and assembly of wind turbine components and wind turbines and other associated parts.

SECI will enter into a power purchase agreement with the winning bidder for 25 years. The project will be allowed to apply for viability gap funding (VGF). The maximum amount receivable is Rs 81.28 million per MW of the contracted capacity. The MNRE will also enter into a 35 year seabed lease with the developer.
