Scatec ASA, through its dedicated project company, Shadwan Wind Power SAE, has inked a USD-denominated 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC). The agreement is for a 900 MW onshore wind project in Ras Shukeir, Egypt.
Furthermore, the signing of the PPA will be followed by wind measurements on the site. The measurements are to be finalised in the first half of 2026. This will be done before the wind project advances towards financial close and construction.
Earlier in May 2025, Scatec ASA commenced construction of its 1.1 GW Obelisk solar and 100 MW/200 MWh battery storage project in Egypt. The project will be constructed in two phases. The energy from the project will be sold under a USD-denominated 25-year PPA with EETC, backed by a sovereign guarantee.
