The Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has won REC Power Development and Consultancy’s (RECPDCL) two transmission tenders to evacuate 12 GW of renewable energy from Rajasthan’s Bikaner complex under Phase IV of the state’s renewable energy zone. Each transmission project will handle 6 GW of power, and will establish an inter-state transmission system in the Bikaner complex.

PGCIL won through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, with Sterlite Grid 32, Adani Energy Solutions, and Tata Power Company also participating in the technical rounds. The projects will involve establishing new 765/400/220 kV pooling substations, along with 765 kV and 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines across Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab, and connecting with existing infrastructure.

In addition, a 765/400 kV substation at Siwani will be established to enhance power evacuation from Bikaner IV, including 400 kV interconnections with key load centers. The transmission infrastructure will support the evacuation of 6 GW of renewable energy from the Bikaner complex, further integrating renewable energy into the grid.

In October 2024, PGCIL won PFC Consulting’s tender to evacuate a 5.5 GW renewable energy evacuation project from Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer/Barmer complex, with the project expected to be commissioned within 2 years.
