NTPC Green Energy has issued a tender for sale of 100,000 carbon credits from Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)-registered wind and solar projects with cumulative capacity of 610 MW. The bids must be submitted by September 12, 2024.
Aside from the issuance fee, the bidders must also submit the lump sum price for the 100,000 carbon credits. It should be paid to Verra/VCS Board along with other necessary charges and taxes. The carbon credits will be sold through an auction. The winning bidder will have to sign an Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA) with NTPC.
Participating bidders must have had experience purchasing and selling carbon credits in the last three years and have an average annual turnover equal to or more than Rs 8 million for the previous three years.
In July 2024, NTPC had issued a tender for 960 MW wind project. In May 2024, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited had issued bids for engineering, procurement, and construction package for 225 MW grid-connected solar projects.
