The government of Morocco has approved $ 32.7 billion worth of green hydrogen projects for the production of ammonia, industrial fuel, and green steel. Under this, five national and international investors were selected to carry out six projects across the three southern regions of Morocco. The investor consortium, which will be investing in ammonia production, consists of ORNX, Ortus, Acciona, and  Nordex.

Furthermore, Taqa and Cepsa will focus on ammonia and industrial fuel production, while the Moroccan company, Nareva will invest in ammonia, industrial fuel, and green steel production. ACWA Power will produce green steel. While, UEG along with China Three Gorges will produce ammonia. The selection of the project developers was carried out through a scientific and transparent methodology.
