Maharashtra signs MoUs with JSW Energy and Torrent Power for nuclear projects

The Maharashtra government has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with JSW Energy Limited and Torrent Power Limited for the development of nuclear power projects in the state.

The MoU signed with JSW Energy is for a 2,800 MW nuclear power plant at Bhiv Bunder in Aghari village, Dapoli taluka, Ratnagiri district. The project entails an investment of Rs 440 billion. Further, the MoU with Torrent Power is for a 1,400 MW nuclear power plant in Ratnagiri district, or any another suitable location in Maharashtra. The project entails an investment of Rs 350 billion. Together, the two projects represent a proposed nuclear capacity of 4,200 MW and investment of Rs 790 billion.
