Lightsource bp plans to develop a pipeline of over 500 MWp in Germany within the next two to three years, targeting projects with a minimum size of 20 MW. To expedite their growth in the German market for utility-scale solar projects, they have entered into a development agreement with Kajoni Energie GmbH.
Furthermore, Kajoni will be responsible for identifying project sites of at least 20 hectares and securing all necessary project rights to bring the projects to a ready-to-build status. Once construction begins, Lightsource bp will take full ownership of the projects.
Lightsource bp made its entry into the German market in 2023 with the ambition to become a leading project developer, aiming to bring 500 MWp of solar projects online annually. In March 2023, they established an office in Berlin, underscoring their expansion and commitment to the region.
In April 2024, Lightsource bp secured financing for a 560 MW solar project in Greece. The project is planned to be integrated into the grid by 2026 and is projected to generate 0.90 TWh in its initial year of operation.
