Bhopal : LAPP has inaugurated a significant expansion of its manufacturing facility in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The expansion transforms LAPP Cable Works Bhopal into the largest manufacturing facility in the company’s global production network.

With its most recent investment in Bhopal, LAPP built a state-of-the-art facility for Power Low Voltage (LV) cable manufacturing. These cables form the backbone of electrical infrastructure in factories, commercial buildings, transportation systems, renewable energy installations, utility projects and other industrial applications. The construction of this unit was started in 2025, which became fully operational today.

The investment comes as India continues to invest heavily in infrastructure, manufacturing and energy, creating strong demand for Power LV cable solutions. Infrastructure investments in the whole country are estimated to reach approximately ₹24 lakh crores over the current and next financial year, while renewable-energy capacity additions are projected at 50-55 GW annually.

“Ultimately, this investment is about our customers: Following our ‘in India for India’ strategy, we are improving our capabilities to support their growth with locally manufactured, high-quality connectivity solutions. We deeply believe in India as a strategic core market for LAPP in Asia and Madhya Pradesh as a manufacturing location”, said Matthias Lapp, CEO of LAPP Group.

Since opening in 2012, LAPP has continuously expanded its Bhopal manufacturing capabilities. What started with single-core cable production evolved into multicore cable manufacturing, solar cable production, compounding capabilities and E-Beam technology. Today, the facility provides more than 200 quality manufacturing jobs. Not only this, the Bhopal plant is LAPP’s largest manufacturing facility globally. It also houses some of the group’s most advanced manufacturing technologies worldwide, which enables LAPP to develop and produce advanced polymer blends in-house, providing greater control over cable quality, consistency and performance. E-Beam technology enhances cable materials at a molecular level, improving durability, thermal resistance and long-term reliability for demanding industrial applications.

The inauguration takes place during LAPP India’s 30th anniversary year and marks another milestone in the company’s long-term commitment to India. Today, India is LAPP’s largest market after Germany and a key global growth driver. The relationship between the Lapp family and India extends far beyond business. Even in his childhood, Matthias Lapp travelled the country during regular family vacations. Former CEO Andreas Lapp serves as Honorary Consul of the Republic of India in two German states since 2000.
