Advait Energy and H.G. Infra Engineering have signed battery energy storage purchase agreements with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) with support from central government-backed viability gap funding.
The agreements follow tariff approval by the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission under GUVNL’s Phase IV tender for 500 MW/1,000 MWh BESS projects. Advait Energy will develop a 50 MW/100 MWh BESS facility at the 220 kV Radhanpur substation, expected to generate revenue of around Rs 1.6 billion. The projects are aligned with the Ministry of Power’s state component scheme and support Gujarat’s energy storage obligation, which targets 4 per cent by 2029-30.
