Statkraft has been selected to negotiate a grant of up to €107 million for its project, which includes a 200 MW electrolysis plant and a 50 MW heat pump system. This setup has the potential to produce up to 20,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen and 50,000 MWh of green heat annually. The funding comes from the EU Innovation Fund, which supports the development of innovative technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across Europe.

Additionally, Statkraft has signed several letters of intent with potential customers for green hydrogen and district heating in Emden and will soon enter negotiations with the EU on the grant decision. Furthermore, Statkraft is advancing its hydrogen pilot project—a 10 MW electrolyser at Emden, with an investment decision expected this year. The pilot aims to supply hydrogen filling stations in the region, accelerating the company’s contribution to sustainable energy solutions.

Earlier this month, Statkraft submitted a planning application for the 2.1 GW Baltic Offshore Delta North wind farm, located in the Baltic Sea within Sweden’s economic zone, roughly 100 kilometres east of Stockholm.
