National : Solar cells and modules manufacturer Emmvee today showcased India’s first Quarter Cut Module with Four Cut TOPCon Cell designed to deliver more energy per KWp at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2026. The new Quarter Cut Module with Four Cut TOPCon Cell will provide a power output in the range of 640-650 W, 25-30W higher power output than existing half-cut modules within the same module dimensions. The occasion also witnessed Emmvee introducing its new 2,000V DC solar module.
Elaborating about the new products, Suhas Donthi, President and Chief Operating Officer, Emmvee, said: “At Emmvee, we have always focused on staying ahead of technology shifts and bringing advances in solar manufacturing to the market. We were among the first to begin manufacturing TOPCon technology, and with our Quarter Cut Module with Four Cut TOPCon Cell and planned 2,000V DC modules, we are continuing that approach. These developments are driven by the need to help solar project developers and customers generate more power sustainably, make better use of available space and improve overall project efficiency. As the industry evolves, our focus is on anticipating its requirements and developing solutions that deliver meaningful value over the long term.”
The Quarter Cut Module with Four Cut TOPCon Cell features a design in which each TOPCon cell is divided into four sections instead of the two used in conventional half-cut modules. Each section carries one quarter of the module current, reducing resistive losses in the cell interconnections. Further, negative cell placement (cell overlap) enables efficient use of the available module area and generates more power without increasing its physical size, an important consideration for solar projects where space is limited.
This Quarter Cult Module is also designed to offer a lower temperature coefficient. This means the module loses less power as its temperature rises, helping maintain higher power output in hot conditions. The design is also expected to reduce heat generated within the module during operation. Another benefit is the improved performance under shading. The smaller cell sections help limit the area affected by shading and hotspots and thereby allowing the module to maintain approximately 85% performance compared with 75% for conventional modules.
Also, over the longer term, the new module is engineered to retain its power-generating capacity better. Typically, half-cut modules have a power degradation rate of 1% in the first year and 0.4% annually from the second year onwards. The Quarter Cut Module with Four Cut TOPCon Cell has a degradation rate of 0.35% in the corresponding time frame.
The Quad Cut module is designed to retain the same general electrical specification class as the existing half-cut product.
The 2,000 VDC PV module presented by Emmvee allows module allows more modules to be connected in each string, reducing the number of strings, cables, trenches and electrical components required across a project. This lowers installation time, labour requirements and balance-of-system costs. By carrying the same power at lower current, it also reduces energy losses that happens on DC cables, helping more of the electricity generated by the modules reach the grid. The new module requires fewer inverters, and combiner boxes simplifying plant design and maintenance. In fact, it helps lower the overall cost of solar power generation, by 1.8% lower levelised cost of electricity (LCOE).
