Elgin has entered into the Italian renewables market with the opening of its new office in Rome. It has also partnered with Rinascita Holding, under which the two companies are co-developing a 200 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project in the Umbria region. The project will require an investment of approximately €200 million and will support grid stability and renewable energy integration in central Italy.
Furthermore, this expansion follows Elgin’s partnership with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) in 2024. CIP acquired a majority stake in Elgin and committed investment to accelerate the company’s growth across existing and new markets. Additionally, Elgin aims to have over 3 GW of development pipeline in Italy by 2030. It will focus on co-located Agri-PV and BESS, along with traditional solar and standalone BESS projects.
Elgin is a London-based, fully integrated, utility-scale solar plus storage platform. It has over 15 GW of development pipeline spanning solar, co-located and storage projects across UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, and Australia. The company has delivered over 1GW of ready-to-build projects.
