BSPGCL Floats Tender for 150 MW Solar-BESS Projects

Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) has invited bids to select developers to set up 150 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) power projects with 75 MW/300 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Bihar. The tender has been issued on behalf of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited, with South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited as the procurers.

According to the tender specifications, the selected solar power developers will be responsible for setting up the solar PV projects, including BESS, and the transmission network up to the interconnection or delivery point. The scope of work also includes land identification and acquisition, obtaining connectivity and statutory approvals, installing transmission equipment, remote terminal unit and supervisory control and data acquisition systems, and developing the associated line bays. Furthermore, the developers must install BESS of at least 0.5 MW/2 MWh for every 1 MW of project capacity. Additionally, the bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 1,424,000 per MW. The last date for bid submission is August 21, 2026.

Earlier, in January 2026, BSPGCL commissioned the first phase of the 301 MW/495 MWh solar plus storage project in Bihar. The first phase comprises a 185 MW grid-connected solar power capacity integrated with a 254 MWh BESS, representing an investment of Rs 18.1 billion.
