BluSmart, a prominent Indian electric mobility ride-hailing service and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure network, has revealed a multi-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Trading Company Limited (TPTCL) to acquire renewable energy.

TPTCL would source 30 MW of capacity under the PPA from the company’s 200 MW solar photovoltaic power facility in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan. Leveraging the recently established green energy open access rules, the collaboration with TPTCL enables BluSmart to eliminate scope 2 emissions entirely from its current 1.4 million square feet of EV charging infrastructure and upcoming charging hubs.

BluSmart is establishing an integrated business encompassing energy, infrastructure, and mobility. Its homegrown born-electric technology stack manages nearly 6,000 BluSmart EVs. BluSmart also operates 4,000 EV chargers across 35 EV charging super hubs, spanning 1.4 million square feet in densely populated megacities such as Delhi NCR and Bangalore. With an annual revenue run-rate surpassing $ 55 million, BluSmart is experiencing over 100 per cent year-over-year growth.

Recently, in February 2024, Tata Power Solar Systems declared that it enabled customer financing exceeding Rs 35 billion for solar projects over the last 4.5 years.

In January 2024, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, in collaboration with Chengmari Tea Estate successfully completed the commissioning of a 1,040 kW bifacial solar system project.
