Attero has signed a MoU with the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), an autonomous body under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, to address the growing issue of solar panel waste in India. Under the agreement, NISE will provide support, sectoral insights, and technical understanding of the current solar installation landscape to Attero for advancing research and development in solar panel recycling.
Additionally, as part of this collaboration, a pilot project will be launched to test the solar panel recycling technologies developed by both Attero and NISE. End-of-life solar panels for the pilot testing will be provided by NISE. Furthermore, both entities will explore the possibility of establishing a dedicated test and research facility on the NISE campus, which will focus on recycling technologies for lithium-ion batteries and solar panels. The objective is to develop effective technical solutions that can process solar waste in an environmentally sound manner.
Moreover, the partnership also aims to produce jointly authored technical reports and formulate policy recommendations to guide the development of recycling standards both in India and internationally.
