Bengaluru : Ather Energy has received approval to commence sales through the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) portal, making its electric scooters available to eligible Armed Forces personnel. Sales through the CSD portal are expected to commence from September 2026.

Eight variants across Ather’s 450 and Rizta model ranges (Ather 450 Apex excluded) have been listed on the CSD platform. Ather is among the first two electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India to have its products listed on the CSD platform.

The CSD listing will give eligible Armed Forces personnel access to Ather’s 450 and Rizta ranges, along with special discounts offered by Ather on purchases made through the platform. These discounts will be available on top of the GST benefits applicable to purchases through CSD, providing an additional benefit to personnel purchasing an Ather scooter.

Ather’s 450 range is built around performance and engaging everyday riding, while Rizta is designed as a family scooter, with a focus on comfort, practicality, and everyday usability. With eight variants across the two ranges available through CSD, Armed Forces personnel will have the flexibility to choose a scooter based on their individual requirements.

The availability of Ather scooters through CSD comes at a time when electric two-wheeler adoption is expanding across the country, supported by increasing product availability and state-level policies encouraging EV adoption. The CSD listing will further expand access to electric two-wheelers for Armed Forces personnel and allow them to benefit from the growing EV ecosystem.

Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy Limited, said: “We’re pleased to partner with CSD and bring Ather to the Armed Forces community. Being among the first pure-play electric two-wheeler manufacturers to be listed on the CSD platform is a significant step for us. In practical terms, this gives Armed Forces personnel and their families access to Ather scooters through a channel they already trust and use for their everyday purchases. A big part of expanding EV ownership is simply about availability, making sure the product is where customers already are. CSD does that at scale, and we look forward to being part of that journey.”

The availability of Ather scooters through CSD further expands the company’s reach across the country and brings its products to a new set of customers through an established purchase platform.
