New Delhi: Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) inaugurated its Skill Exhibition & Try-a-Skill Zone today at DIDAC India 2025, held at Yashobhoomi – India International Convention & Expo Centre, New Delhi. The three-day showcase aims to promote future-ready, technology-driven skill development in India’s automotive ecosystem, drawing strong participation from students, educators, industry leaders, and training partners.

The event opened with live demonstrations under the Skill Exhibition, aligned with IndiaSkills 2025 and WorldSkills International standards, featuring competitions and displays in Automobile Technology and Additive Manufacturing. Visitors witnessed the precision and technical expertise required in global-standard automotive trades. The Try-a-Skill Zone emerged as the centre of attraction on Day 1, offering immersive hands-on experiences through advanced AR simulators — the Soldamatic AR Welding Simulator, Pintamatic AR Painting Simulator, and live demonstrations in autobody repair including glue pull repair and aluminium panel techniques. Participants engaged across easy, intermediate, and advanced challenge levels, supported by real-time performance analytics and digital feedback.

As highlighted at the event, rapid industrial growth has created an urgent need for skilled welders, yet the country faces a significant talent shortage. Establishing traditional welding training infrastructure requires high investment — from extensive lab space to equipment costing along with recurring consumable expenses. AR-based training solutions showcased by ASDC offer a safe, sustainable, and cost-effective alternative to build a strong skilled workforce and meet Industry 4.0 demands.

Speaking at the inauguration, Vinkesh Gulati, Chairperson, ASDC, said: “India is facing a severe shortage of skilled welders and automotive painters. Through this exhibition, ASDC aims to showcase how advanced simulation tools and experiential learning can bridge this gap and create a future-ready talent pool for our automotive sector.”

Headded: “The overwhelming response today reflects the growing interest in technology-led skilling. AR solutions can reduce training costs, improve safety, and accelerate learning outcomes — essential to strengthening India’s vocational ecosystem.”

The event will continue till 20 November 2025, featuring live demonstrations, skill challenges, industry interactions, and workshops aimed at strengthening collaboration between training institutions and industry. ASDC’s inaugural showcase at DIDAC India underscores its commitment to advancing modern, scalable, and technology-enabled skill development across India’s automotive sector.
