Alpex Solar Limited, an Indian manufacturer of solar systems, has announced that it has received orders for the supply, installation and commissioning of 1,434 solar water pumping systems from the Department of New & Renewable Energy, Government of Haryana (HAREDA). The orders have been received under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan Yojana (PM-KUSUM Scheme).  The Noida-based company received the first order for 845 solar water pumps worth Rs 264.9 million under the component-B of PM KUSUM scheme for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of solar water pumping systems at 845 locations across the state of Haryana. The second order is for supplying, installing, and commissioning 589 solar water pumping systems worth Rs 172.1 million from HAREDA.

Recently, the union minister for power and new and renewable energy in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha announced that over 295,000 standalone off-grid solar water pumps have been installed across India under Component B of the PM-KUSUM scheme for farmers. According to the minister, nearly 75 per cent of the total installed numbers under Component B, are achieved in three states – Haryana (80,004), Maharashtra (79,118) and Rajasthan (59,732) – accounting for over 200,000 installations. The rapid adoption indicates the scheme’s success in enabling energy access and water security for farmers through standalone solar pumps.
