Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has secured an inter-state transmission project worth approximately Rs 85 billion in Andhra Pradesh. The project will supply power to the proposed green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Vizag area, with an estimated demand of 4,500 MW.
The project will be executed through the special purpose vehicle, Vizag Power Transmission Limited. The scope of work includes the establishment of 765/400 kV gas-insulated substations at Pendurthi (Vizag) and Khammam-II. It will also help meet the growing load requirement expected from the Pendurthi-Vizag region, supported by emerging data centre and digital infrastructure developments. Furthermore, it will add 1,582 ckm of transmission lines and 10,500 MVA of transformation capacity upon completion, increasing AESL’s overall transmission network to 29,531 ckm and its transformation capacity to 133,675 MVA.
In February 2026, AESL secured long-term financing from a consortium of Japanese banks for its flagship high-voltage direct current transmission project. The financing was led by MUFG Bank Limited and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.
