Vikran Engineering Limited has secured an order worth around Rs 1.54 billion, excluding goods and services tax, from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) for a 400 kV air-insulated substation (AIS) extension package at Tumkur-II in Karnataka.
The project involves extending the 400/220 kV Tumkur-II pooling substation and executing civil works for a ±300 MVAR static synchronous compensator. The works are part of a transmission system strengthening project to integrate an additional 2.7 GW of renewable energy capacity. Vikran Engineering will undertake the design, engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the package. The project is scheduled for completion within 21 months from the date of the notification of award.
