Udaipur : Hindustan Zinc Limited the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and among the top ten silver producers globally, has signed a six-year transportation contract with MFL India Limited for the deployment of 30 electric trucks for concentrate transportation, accelerating the electrification of its mine-to-smelter logistics network. MFL India Limited is a logistics solutions provider focused on enabling reliable, efficient, and sustainable movement of materials across critical industries.

Under the contract, extendable by a further two years, electric trucks will be progressively inducted to replace conventional diesel vehicles used for transporting zinc and lead concentrate from Rampura Agucha, the world’s largest underground zinc mining operations to its smelting operations in Rajasthan. MFL will also establish and operate dedicated EV charging infrastructure to support the fleet, creating the ecosystem required for reliable electric mobility across a critical industrial logistics route.

Mr. Amarendu Prakash, CEO & Whole-time Director, Hindustan Zinc Limited, said, “The future of mining will be defined not only by the metals we produce, but by how responsibly and efficiently we produce and move them. The contract for deployment of EV trucks for concentrate transportation is yet another step towards that future, demonstrating how industrial decarbonisation can strengthen competitiveness while creating an ecosystem in which our partners and communities grow with us.”

Recognising the higher capital requirements associated with emerging technologies such as EVs and LNG, Hindustan Zinc is working with MFL to enable a phased transition to cleaner mobility, progressively replacing conventional vehicles as the EV fleet and charging infrastructure are established, while ensuring continued participation of local drivers in the transportation network.

Mr. Anil Thukral, Chairman & Managing Director, MFL India Limited, said, “We are proud to partner with Hindustan Zinc in advancing the transition to cleaner industrial logistics. This deployment demonstrates how electric mobility can be effectively integrated into large-scale transportation networks, supported by the right charging infrastructure and operational planning. Together, we are building a scalable model for sustainable logistics that delivers both environmental benefits and long-term operational value.”

The deployment builds on Hindustan Zinc’s growing adoption of cleaner mobility across its integrated operations. During FY2026, the company added 42 electric vehicles for transporting materials across its operations, expanding its green logistics fleet to 232 vehicles including 52 EVs and 180 LNG vehicles. Hindustan Zinc has steadily expanded electric and alternative-fuel mobility across different parts of its operations. The company pioneered the deployment of battery electric vehicles in underground mining at Sindesar Khurd Mine in Rajpura Dariba, Rajasthan and has subsequently expanded cleaner mobility across mining equipment, material transportation and workforce mobility.

The transition is part of Hindustan Zinc’s wider decarbonisation roadmap to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050 or sooner. The company has increased the share of renewable energy in its power mix to nearly 22% and continues to scale renewable power, electrification, energy efficiency and low-carbon technologies across its operations and value chain.
