REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has transferred two project-specific special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for inter-state transmission projects to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) and H.G. Infra Engineering Limited (HGIEL) under the tariff-based competitive bidding route.

WR ER Part A Power Transmission Limited has been acquired by POWERGRID, which emerged as the successful bidder for the project to be developed on a build, own, operate and transfer basis. The SPV has been set up to implement the ‘WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme Part-A’. Meanwhile, WR ER Part C Power Transmission Limited has been acquired by HGIEL, for the project ‘WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme Part-C’. The WR-ER interregional network expansion scheme has been planned to address the expected increase in loading on the Western Region-Eastern Region transmission corridors under the projected 2028-29 peak solar scenario. It will also support evacuation of power from upcoming thermal power projects in Chhattisgarh.
