The Yunlin offshore wind farm of the Yunneng Wind Power Co. Ltd. has started commercial operations with an installed capacity of 640 MW. The project comprises 80 wind turbine generators. It is located in the Taiwan Strait, 8 to 17 km off the west coast, across a project area of 82 square km with water depths ranging from 7 to 35 metres. The wind farm has obtained the required electricity business licences, complied with regulatory requirements, and met contractual obligations under its financing agreement.
With the beginning of commercial operations, TotalEnergies will now take charge of technical operations management, while Skyborn Renewables continues to provide broader management services. Furthermore, the project achieved full grid connection in January 2025 and is expected to supply 2,400 GWh of electricity annually. It is also projected to reduce carbon emissions by nearly 1.2 million tonnes per year.
Yunneng Wind Power Co. Ltd. is a joint venture between Skyborn, TotalEnergies, the Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO Group), and Sojitz Corporation. Power generated from the wind farm is delivered to Taiwan Power Company through two 20-year power purchase agreements. Electricity is transmitted to the grid via two onshore substations situated near Taixi and Sihu townships in Yunlin County.
