Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has received a letter of intent from PFC Consulting to develop an interstate transmission system at Kurnool-III PS in Andhra Pradesh to integrate 4,500 MW of renewable energy. The project would involve expanding the transformation capacity at the Kurnool-III substation and carrying out extension work at the C’peta substation. Additionally, a 765 kV direct current transmission line will be constructed to facilitate power evacuation. The tender for this project was issued in September 2024.

The scope of work includes establishing, operating, and maintaining the project on a build, own, operate, and transfer basis. It also covers surveying, preparing a detailed project report, securing finance, obtaining regulatory approvals, and managing land compensation. Further responsibilities include design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of the transmission infrastructure. Moreover, all substations, switching stations, high-voltage direct current terminals, or inverter stations must be located within a 3 km radius of the proposed area in the survey report.
