Lohum has announced the establishment of a battery-grade lithium refinery with a capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes per annum. Additionally, the company has also initiated production of value-added materials like cathode active materials (CAM), which are essential for lithium-ion battery manufacturing.

The company has developed lithium recovery technology with over 90 per cent efficiency, significantly above the industry average of 60 to 70 per cent. It  aims to achieve 99.99 per cent purity with ongoing research and development advancements. Furthermore, by 2030, Lohum aims to become India’s largest direct consumer of lithium, aligning with global demand projections of nearly 1.5 million tonnes of lithium carbonate annually, required for 4,000 GWh of battery cell production.
