The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued an important clarification regarding the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2019. According to the official memorandum dated May 20, 2024, the order will apply to projects where the final bid submission date is on or after April 10, 2021. For the projects whose last date of bid submission was prior to April 6, 2021, the approved list of models and manufacturers (ALMM) order concerning List I (Modules) shall not be applicable. This measure aims to ensure that solar photovoltaic cells and modules used in government and government-assisted projects adhere to established standards for quality and reliability, thereby safeguarding long-term energy security.

The ALMM order mandates that only models and manufacturers listed and approved under the order are eligible for use in these projects. This clarification is part of ongoing efforts by the MNRE to streamline and reinforce regulations governing the solar energy sector, ensuring that all installations meet necessary quality benchmarks for sustainable energy development.
