WBSEDCL invites bids to set up EV charging and battery swapping stations

The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has called for bids to supply, install, operate, and manage electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery-swapping stations. These facilities will be established across Kolkata, and a majority of them will be located along national and state highways.

The projects will follow a revenue-sharing model, with the government providing land. Furthermore,  the selected bidders will bear the installation and operational expenses. Out of the 245 planned sites, 160 will be on WBSEDCL-owned land and another 42 on West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited’s plot. Additionally, 32 sites will be on land provided by the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited, and 11 on other government-owned plots. Furthermore, WBSEDCL will supply electricity to the charging stations, while the remaining infrastructure, including fast and slow charging facilities, will be developed by the chosen bidders at their own expense.

Earlier in October 2025, WBSEDCL issued a tender to set up 250 MW/1,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems at the Goaltore substation in Paschim Midnapore, West Bengal.
