Tata Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Maharashtra to set up two pumped hydro storage projects (PSP). These PSPs will have a combined generation capacity of 2,800 MW and are expected to cost Rs 130 billion. The projects will be located in two separate locations. The 1,800 MW PSP will be set up in Shirawta, Pune and the 1,000 MW plant in Bhivpuri, Raigad. It is estimated that the project will provide employment to over 6,000 people.
