Sun King has secured USD 40 million in equity financing from sustainable investment platform Lightrock.
The funding will support the company’s expansion of decentralised solar energy systems across Africa and Asia and aid the development of new products. Sun King operates in 11 African countries through a direct-to-consumer, pay-as-you-go distribution model. Its portfolio includes solar kits for basic lighting and phone charging, as well as larger inverter systems for homes, schools, health centres, and businesses with unreliable or no grid access.
