Shree Cement Limited has announced the commissioning of a 6 MWp solar power project at its Roorkee unit in Uttarakhand. The project is located adjacent to the company’s existing cement manufacturing operations. The solar power project has reportedly been developed with a capital investment of approximately Rs 160 million.
The project has been developed under a build-own-operate model. It is expected to reduce dependence on grid power and offset around 6,500 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually. With this addition, solar power capacity at the Roorkee project site has reportedly increased from 1.0 MWp to 7.0 MWp. Furthermore, Shree Cement’s total installed solar capacity now stands at 293.5 MWp across its portfolio.
In June 2025, Shree Cement Limited reported sourcing over 60 per cent of its total electricity consumption from renewable energy, with a total renewable capacity of 582 MW.
