The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has issued an expression of interest (EoI) to identify carbon sources for green urea and RFNBO-compliant green methanol production in India. It aims to identify and assess potential carbon sources across India and evaluate the infrastructure and support required for their use in green urea and RFNBO-compliant green methanol production. The last date for bid submission is September 17, 2026.
The EoI has been divided into two parts based on the different carbon eligibility requirements for the two end uses. Part I covers carbon sourcing for RFNBO-compliant green methanol, where only eligible categories of carbon recognised under applicable European Union regulations can be used for methanol meant for the European market. Part II focuses on carbon sourcing for green urea, which is primarily intended for the domestic market and allows consideration of all credible carbon sources, subject to the preferences specified in the EoI. Interested entities can submit responses under either Part I, Part II, or both, depending on the nature and location of their carbon source.
Earlier, in July 2026, SECI issued a request for selection for solar developers to set up 5,290 kW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects under the renewable energy service company mode through tariff-based competitive bidding (RTSPV-Tranche XII).
