NTPC has declared the results of its 1.2 GW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar projects auction. The winners are SAEL Industries, Rays Power Infra, Refex Green, ReNew Solar and Illuminate Hybren (Mahindra Susten).
SEAL, Rays Power, and Refex Green secured a capacity of 300 MW, 100 MW, and 100 MW, respectively. They all had the same tariff of Rs 2.50 per kWh. On the other hand, ReNew Solar and Illuminate Hybren were awarded 300 MW and 176 MW at a tariff of Rs 2.51 per kWh. The tender was issued in June 2024. NTPC has allocated only 976 MW as of now.
According to the tender guidelines, solar modules used in the project must be present in List-I under the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules given by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
In September 2024, NTPC Limited floated a tender for the preparation of a detailed project report for an 800 MW pumped storage project (PSP) in Amba, Maharashtra. In the same month, NTPC commissioned a 160 MW solar project in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan as a part of their 320 MW Bhainsara solar project.
