NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) have formed a joint venture (JV) to fulfil the green hydrogen and renewable energy objectives of NTPC. The JV is expected to develop renewable energy projects of 25 GW and green hydrogen developments and its derivatives of 1 million metric tonne per annum (MMTPA) in Rajasthan. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan has dedicated 160 MW out of the total 320 MW solar power project in Bhainsara, Rajasthan to the nation.
In September 2024, NGEL awarded Suzlon Group with a 1,166 MW wind energy order. Suzlon would supply and install 370 wind turbine generators for two projects of NTPC Renewable Energy Limited and one project of Indian Oil Corporation Limited-NGEL joint venture in Gujarat. In May 2024, NGEL collaborated with Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited (MAHAPREIT) to establish clean energy power parks and projects. To be set up in Maharashtra, the agreement calls for the collaborative establishment of grid-connected clean energy projects with a combined capacity of up to 10 GW, encompassing wind, solar, and hybrid systems.
